Performing Arts

The elective explores the diverse and interdisciplinary nature of classical as well as contemporary performances. The elective on Performing Arts will introduce students to varied traditions such as dance, drama, music, storytelling, stand-up comedy among other practices. The study of performing arts will also include considering important histories to help create original work for public performances.

The elective is a great medium for students to learn the art of presenting their skills, building stamina and increasing confidence. The course helps students develop self-discipline, team work, self-awareness, innovative ways to express and the ability to cope with criticism.

CAREER PROSPECTS:

Students can explore various direct and indirect fields in the performing arts after pursuing this elective. Among the jobs that are directly related to this field are of a dancer, an actor, music therapist, theatre or film director, singer, radio jockeys, among others. Jobs where some knowledge of this course would be useful are that of a broadcast presenter, arts administrator, among others.

English Creative Writing

The elective aims at developing good writing skills, analytical ability, research skills and a broadened perspective of the world. The course also offers the opportunity to learn a variety of techniques in the writing process and develop narrative, verse or play writing skills.

The course helps in polishing one’s writing skills and honing potential to become a professional writer. It will help students write creatively in different genres including short stories, poetry, verse, copy writing, among others. Entrepreneurship

The elective in Entrepreneurship enables students to research for new products/service ideas, business plans, carry out resource planning and implementation. Students also get a basic knowledge of accounting practices, finance and skills to start and sustain their own business.

Research Methodology

From initiation of a research idea to the ultimate culmination in publication there are many segments; initiation of a research idea, thorough literature search, formulation of a research question, proper study design, possible source of funding, conduction of research, analysis of data obtained, proper interpretation of results and publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Undergraduate medical students need to learn it for a stronger foundation for their future. If research does not work systematically on problem, there would be less possibility to find out the final result. Foreign policy, also called foreign relations or foreign affairs -policy, of a country consists of self-interest strategies chosen by the state to defend its national interests and to accomplish goals within its international relations milieu. The approaches are tactically employed to interact with other countries. This elective will give them an overview of the democracy in India, economics, development, governance and metropolitan policy.
