The course focuses on fashion designing concepts, processes and production. It is complemented with training on business and contextual sessions. Exploratory project works are incorporated to provide integrated approach that combines creativity with much needed technical skills.The aim is to let students develop their individual styles and at the same time, be proficient enough to alter in accordance with the changing needs and trends of the fashion industry.

Fabric draping and garment study is aimed to understand the characteristic of various kinds of fabric, body structures and garment stitching and manufacturing techniques. Pattern making and elements of textiles is aimed to understand the fabric manufacturing techniques as well as garment manufacturing technique to suit the body shapes and enhance elegance of garments. History of Fashion design and fashion studies are aimed to understand the origin of garments in different countries as well as understanding the current trends in fashion industry. The course also includes the most important aspect of fashion forecast. Digital presentation techniques and various software skills like Photoshop, coral draw and fashion CAD are also inclusive in the course.

The course teaches students how to create stunning designs that appeal to kids as well as their parents. Through mood boards and colour palettes, students are expected to create fabric details, patterns and designs for the kids wear segment. Students are also expected to conduct research on the existing players in the market, analyze collections and learn to cater to the demands of the growing industry.

Bridal Wear

Beautiful bridal wear has always been the centre of social recognition in every cultural system. UID’s course on bridal wear aims to consider the wedding costume as a communicative and cultural social phenomenon to provide the tools for planning and designing a dream collection. The course is dedicated to students who want to design modern and traditional Indian as well as international wedding dresses. The course involves carrying out thorough research on the existing designs in the market while considering the current gaps. Students are expected to create mood boards with not just bridal dresses but also accessories, jewellery, shoes to create overall outfits. Students are also expected to create samples to express their ideas and put them into practice. As part of the course, students are taught the concepts of draping, pattern making, tailoring, sewing and creating computer-aided designs.
