USLM hosted a stimulating Master Class for students by Prof. Jaideep Banerjee, the Director of Outreach Programmes, Karnavati University on 10th March 2018. Prof. Banerjee has been a pillar for the department since its foundation. Liberal Arts students were sincerely waiting for this second academic session by him.
The meticulously designed presentation was on “Idea, Innovation and Entrepreneurship”. Taking instances from the current global affairs, Prof. Banerjee explained how important the role of ideation is. That can take the shape of originality, that is, innovation, or it might be formulated as a smart enhancement of an old product.
He shared a few personal anecdotes and showed some videos about motivation, passion and self-improvement to portray how a fledgling entrepreneur should work on his or her cognitive process and work on the actualization of the freshness of the project instead of focusing on following models. He spoke at length about Bhavish Aggarwal, the co-founder and owner of Ola Cabs who wanted to create a venture that would at once make a profit and serve the society. When the right idea struck him, he did not hesitate to quit his bluechip position with Microsoft.
A successful entrepreneur must try to combine progress with profit. A conventional academic excellence is not an absolute must there. But an open mind, knowledge about the world and critical intelligence are indispensable.
