Dr. Darshna Thakker, an experienced gynecologist, exceptional motivational speaker at Karnavati University

An experienced gynecologist, exceptional motivational speaker, and an eminent social entrepreneur, Dr. Darshna Thakker is going to address our students at Karnavati University on an important aspect of human life: “Healthy Living & How to heal mind & body through happiness”.
She holds a degree in Doctor of Medicine (MD), DHA and MBA and founder of Naari & Health Café and is a trustee of Sparsh Foundation.
This Wednesday was a very eventful day, as an experienced gynecologist and an exceptional motivational speaker- Dr. Darshana Thakker came to Karnavati University to speak to UG students of UWSB, UID and UWSL about one of the most important aspect of human life: Happiness.
Happiness though sounds cliché; many people spend their entire lives to achieve it and to feel it. To prove it, Dr. Darshana presented with a shocking fact that as of today, 5 crore people suffer from depression in India. She also stated that by the year 2020, depression will surpass cancer and death due to accidents as the no. 1 cause of death in India.
It evidently became very clear as our session progressed, why listening to prominent speakers like Dr. Darshana is important as today approximately 42.5% of corporate employees in India are suffering from depression and it is very likely that 1 in every 5 people in India is prone to suffering from this silent killer.
This highly interactive session took place so that the students understand the various causes of unhappiness like stress, anxiety and panic. Certain strategies where stated by the doctor was very simple yet efficient such as: to focus more on what gives us happiness rather than wasting energies on factors that trigger unhappiness and worries.
She also stated most of the problems can be easily handled in life if we think and then respond to it without panicking rather than reacting to it and then regretting it.
She also enlightened students with issues pertaining to their personal relationships which have abusive nature to it but we don’t realize.
She clearly stated that no relationship is worth at the cost of our self-respect and happiness.
She also elaborated 6 steps for the journey to happiness: intention to action, confusion to clarity, challenges to a solution, comfort zone to effort zone, sharing, nurturing and fulfilling. The session ended with enthusiastic students interacting with the doctor for healthy living and wellness.
